Streamlining Licensing Process for Multi-Unit Apartment Complex Renovation

When the Apartment Investment and Management Company (AIMCO), one of the nation’s largest owners and operators of apartment communities, sold Springhill Lake in Greenbelt, Maryland, they turned to Capital Legislative Solutions to prepare the complex for transition to its new owners, Empirian Property Management Inc. Renamed Empirian Village, the 156-acre property is the largest mixed-use garden-style apartment complex east of the Mississippi.

Capital Legislative Solutions was tasked with streamlining access to secure permits to renovate each unit with new roof lines, entry ways, windows and kitchen appliances. Capital Legislative Solutions expeditiously secured the permits to renovate 3,000 units in 150 buildings. During the process, Capital Legislative Solutions implemented a community outreach strategy to keep the Empirian Village residents up-to-date with the renovation plans and process. The results? All renovations for the Empirian Village residential units are successfully underway.
